Matt Hickey is a World Pizza Champion, accomplished competitor, and the Commissary Director for Caliente Pizza & Drafthouse in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A dedicated member of the Caliente team for over 11 years, Matt has played a vital role in the company’s growth while helping maintain the consistency and quality that have made Caliente one of the most decorated independent pizzerias in the country.
As a proud member of the World Pizza Champions, Matt has earned international recognition for his talent, speed, and showmanship. He has captured multiple world titles and podium finishes in events including Largest Dough Stretch, Fastest Pizza Maker, Freestyle Pizza Acrobatics, and the Pizza Triathlon.
Most recently, at the 2026 Caputo Cup in Naples, Italy, Matt won the “Largest Stretch Pizza World Championship” while also earning bronze medals in both Fastest Pizza Maker and Freestyle Pizza Acrobatics. Known for his relentless work ethic and passion for the craft, Matt thrives on pushing himself to improve while sharing his knowledge with fellow pizza makers. Whether he’s competing on the world stage, mentoring teammates, or leading commissary operations, he represents the teamwork, professionalism, and passion that define the World Pizza Champions.
Outside of pizza, Matt is a devoted father to five children. He enjoys spending time with his family and credits them as his greatest motivation, bringing the same dedication to home that he brings to every competition and every pizza he creates.
