Janet Zapata, chef/owner of 550 Pizzeria in Laredo, Tx quickly made a name for herself—and her specialty handcrafted pies—in the short time she’s been operating the pizzeria. Opening its doors during the height of the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020, Janet has since earned multiple accolades for her savory creations, including her hometown newspapers’ Reader’s Choice Award for ‘Best Pizza’ and ‘Best Chef’. When asked what makes her pies stand out, Janet says it’s all about using fresh ingredients, never-frozen dough, mixed with love for every pie that bears the name 550. I love you #LareDough!
