Bio:Diana Coutu and her husband Pierre had a dream of owning their own pizzeria and so became "sort of" franchisees for a pizza chain in January, 1998 on the basis of a handshake deal rather than any official documents. When Diana's store sales surpassed the company's two existing units in the first year, the franchisor took steps that ended the business relationship shortly thereafter. Starting again from scratch, Diana and Pierre restarted their business and managed to make many mistakes no one else had even thought of previously. Bad partnerships, bad decisions and following bad advice earned them a badge of honour from the school of hard knocks. Perseverance, integrity and determination to succeed brought Diana through the experience with newfound toughness and dedication to her craft. She was ultimately recognized for her talents when Canadian Pizza Magazine awarded her the prestigious title "Canada's Best Pizza Chef 2005" and then again for "Canada's Best Pizza Chef 2006". She presently holds the gourmet position on the Canadian Pizza Team™ and has represented Canada in international pizza competitions held in Las Vegas, New York and Italy. In addition to still operating her successful pizzeria, Diana speaks to a variety of groups on business building tips and reaching one's goals. She continues to discover novel ways of getting results and learning how to overcome new challenges.
