Results of the World Pizza Games

Las Vegas, NV - This year the games saw a record number of competitors from across the USA, Spain, Italy, Puerto Rico and set a whole new standard for acrobatic dough throwing.

Three World Champions took home Gold Medals and a $1000 cash prize at the World Pizza Games Finals and Rockin' Party at the International Pizza Expo in Las Vegas.

The Acrobatic Competition brought things to a conclusion with Spinning chairs, Freddy Kreuger, the Phantom of the Opera, Rock Stars, and a Team Exhibition between the Italian National Team and the World Pizza Champions.

Showing the most talent/pizza knowledge at the World Pizza Games - Giorgio Giove and Justin Wadstein were handpicked to join the 2006/2007 World Pizza Champions team. They will travel with the team to the 2006 Pizza Today's Northeast Pizza Show, 2007 International Pizza Expo, and to the 2007 World Pizza Championship in Salsomaggiore, Italy.

Up and coming acrobatic dough thrower Jay Shuurman of Kianti's Pizza & Pasta Bar was picked as the 2006/2007 Honorary Member of the World Pizza Champions. The team has invited Jay to join them at the 2007 World Pizza Championship in Salsomaggiore, Italy.

World Pizza Games Trials in Pittsburgh

World Pizza Games Trials were held at the Pennsylvania Restaurant and Foodservice Expo in Pittsburgh, PA, March 19th.

Two winners were chosen to advance directly to the 2007 World Pizza Games Finals at next years International Pizza Expo.

  • 1st Place: David Smith II: Smith's Pizza Palace Plus - 1:08.78 seconds
  • 2nd Place: Mark Anowski: Pizza Works - 1:10.97 seconds
  • 3rd Place: Patt Miller: Flying Pizza - 1:16.57 seconds

Largest Dough

  • 1st Place: Frank Graci: Flying Pizza - 38.75"
  • 2nd Place: Mark Anowski: Pizza Works - 35.25"
  • 3rd Place: David Smith: Smith's Pizza Palace Plus - 34"

Siler Chapman, Tony Gemignani, and Michael Shepherd of the World Pizza Champions were also on hand to perform Acrobatic demonstrations.
